Who answers you, and who sails Princess Lala
Updated 11 October 2026
You book with our reservations team at PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, NIB 1805260128363, the licensed Indonesian company in Labuan Bajo that takes your booking and your payment. Princess Lala is sailed by her own crew of five: a captain, a cruise director, a chef and two deck crew. On open trips a local guide joins them.
Who answers your messages
When you write to us, the person who answers works for PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia. We are a licensed Indonesian company based in Labuan Bajo, registered under NIB 1805260128363, and we are the ones who take your booking, send you the confirmation, collect your payment and issue your invoice. Princess Lala is sailed by her own crew; we are the company behind the booking.
That split matters when something needs deciding. A question about a cabin, a fare, a date, a refund or the booking terms comes to us, and we answer it in writing. A question about the day itself, such as where you swim after lunch, is settled on board by the cruise director and the captain.
The box below carries our company details and the hours we answer in. If you want to know who has your money, it is the company named there, and the same name appears on the invoice, in the booking terms and on the privacy page.

Who sails her
Princess Lala has her own crew, and there are five of them: a captain, a cruise director, a chef and two deck crew.
Each role is a different part of your day. The captain sails her, and where she lies for the night is the weather's and the captain's decision. The cruise director looks after the guests on board. The chef cooks every meal in the galley. The two deck crew work the boat and the tender that takes you ashore at the beaches.
A local guide joins the open trip as well, in addition to the crew. At full capacity the boat carries 1 crew per 3.6 guests. A park ranger always leads the walk among the dragons on Komodo, whose fee is paid with the park fees, separately from your fare.
| Guests on board | Crew to guests |
|---|---|
| Full · 18 | 1 crew per 3.6 guests |
| Typical · 12 | 1 crew per 2.4 guests |
| Small group · 6 | 1 crew per 1.2 guests |
Princess Lala, and the other spelling
The name painted on the hull is Princess Lala, and that is the spelling we use everywhere on this site. Some brochures and listings print it as Princes Lala. If you find one with that spelling, it is the same boat, and you can use either name when you write to us.
We mention it here and nowhere else because it is the question a careful guest asks when they compare several pages: is this the same boat as the one in the other listing? If the name on the paper in front of you is spelled the other way and the cabin numbers match what we say, it is.
Everything else on this site describes the boat as she sails today: a timber phinisi with blue sails, two tables, six cabins, a bow sundeck and a side deck with two canvas chairs.
What you can rely on
Every fare, date, cabin and rule on this site comes from the boat's current fare list and sailing calendar for 2026 and 2027, from our own booking terms and from the park regulation PP 36/2024. When a number changes, we change the page.
What we state, we state as fact. All six cabins have a sea-view window. Cabin 3 shares a bathroom outside the cabin. Guests get a snorkel and a mask, and fins are not supplied. Wi-Fi is the crew's hotspot and drops between islands. A snorkelling boat has no tanks and no compressor.
How a booking becomes a trip
You write to us, we reply with the free cabins, you choose, and we confirm in writing. The deposit is 50 percent, and the balance is paid 30 days before departure. After that the day passes to the boat and her crew, and the sequence is the same every time.
The evening before you sail, your guide confirms the pickup time, which on the open trip falls between 10:30 and 11:55. A car collects you from your hotel or Komodo Airport. On board you get your cabin key and a safety briefing, then the first lunch is served at the long table, and the boat heads for Kelor. At the end of the trip a transfer takes you back to your hotel or Komodo Airport.
If anything goes wrong before you sail, we are the ones who answer for it. If Princess Lala cannot sail, you get a phinisi of equal or higher class on the same dates at no extra cost; if the harbour master closes the port, or you would rather not take the other boat, the trip is refunded in full. The full terms are on the terms page, in plain words.
FAQ
Who is on board Princess Lala besides the guests?
A crew of five: a captain, a cruise director, a chef and two deck crew. On the open trip a local guide joins in addition to the crew, and a park ranger leads the walk on Komodo. On a private charter the guide is available on request and quoted separately, and the ranger's fee is part of the park fees.
Which company takes my booking and my payment?
PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, a licensed Indonesian company based in Labuan Bajo, registered under NIB 1805260128363. It confirms your cabin in writing, collects the 50 percent deposit and the balance, and issues your invoice. The crew sail the boat; they do not take bookings, and you do not pay them for the fare.
Who decides where Princess Lala lies for the night?
The weather and the captain, on the day. The crew are five in all: a captain, a cruise director, a chef and two deck crew. On the open trip a local guide joins in addition to the crew.
What safety equipment is on board Princess Lala?
Life jackets, life buoys, a life raft, an AIS transponder and a first-aid kit. The kit covers basic first aid, and the nearest hospital is in Labuan Bajo. There is a tender boat with an outboard engine for beach landings. Tell us about any medical need before you sail.
Does my fare go to the crew or to your company?
The fare is paid to PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, and it covers the items in the fare list: transfers, meals, water, tea and coffee, snacks, mask and snorkel, linen, and on the open trip a guide and photo documentation. Tips for the guide and crew are separate and are not in the fare; park fees are paid separately too.
