Sebayur Island on a charter

Updated 11 October 2026

Sebayur is a beach and snorkelling island that Princess Lala visits on day three of the three-day private charter, before Kanawa. It is not on the open trip. Expect easy water, 2 to 10 metres deep with a mild current. The three-day charter starts at IDR 38,000,000 (≈ USD 2,331) for one to four guests.

Who gets Sebayur

You reach Sebayur only by booking the whole boat. On our routes it appears once: on day three of the three-day private charter, ahead of Kanawa. The open trip does not call there, and neither does the two-day fare.

The three-day charter starts at IDR 38,000,000 (≈ USD 2,331) for one to four guests, IDR 41,000,000 (≈ USD 2,515) for five to eight and IDR 46,000,000 (≈ USD 2,822) for nine to twelve, and IDR 2,250,000 (≈ USD 138) for each guest above twelve, up to eighteen. Park fees come on top, and the guide and the photographer can be added on request and are quoted on their own.

If your family or your friends want an extra island and a slow beach morning, this is the sailing that has it. If the open trip suits your group better, you get Kanawa on day three instead.

Day three of a charter, in order

Day three begins with breakfast on board. The boat then sails to Sebayur, which is the larger of the Sebayur islands, near Flores and 1.5 to 2 hours by boat from Labuan Bajo. After Sebayur you go on to Kanawa, and then back to Labuan Bajo.

The hour you are back in harbour is agreed with you when you book, because a private charter keeps its own timetable and the pickup hour on day one is agreed too.

Meals stay on board, at the long table indoors or the stern table in the open air; the beach is for the water.

In the water and on the sand

Sebayur is an island of beaches and nearby reefs, which makes it a snorkelling and beach stop. The grade is easy. The water is between 2 and 10 metres deep, the current is mild, and a snorkel runs 45 to 90 minutes.

Masks and snorkels are on board for everyone, and fins are the one thing you carry yourself.

A private charter has one great advantage here: the whole boat sets the pace. A toddler napping in a cabin, a grandparent in a deck chair, a nervous swimmer in the shallows and a strong swimmer on the reef can all take the same morning in different ways.

What it is not: not inside the dragon trekking area

What Sebayur is not

Sebayur is not inside the dragon trekking area. There is no ranger walk here, and nobody should come hoping for a dragon. The dragon walk is on Komodo, or on Rinca, on day two.

Park fees run across the whole sailing and the charter fare does not carry them: IDR 250,000 on each day for a visitor from abroad, IDR 50,000 or IDR 75,000 for an Indonesian visitor on a weekday or a weekend, with ranger and other levies extra. Tips are not carried either.

The stop has no beach dinner and no fixed timetable; the captain sets the hours on the day.

FAQ

Can I add Sebayur to the open trip?

No. The open trip's third morning is Kanawa, then home. Sebayur appears only on day three of the three-day private charter, ahead of Kanawa. If Sebayur matters to you, ask for the three-day charter and we send the fare for your group size.

How long does it take to reach Sebayur from Labuan Bajo?

1.5 to 2 hours by boat from Labuan Bajo. On the three-day charter you do not make that run from the harbour: the boat calls at Sebayur on day three, between breakfast and Kanawa.

Is there a ranger walk at Sebayur?

No. Sebayur is not inside the dragon trekking area. The dragons are on day two, on Komodo or, when the quota says so, on Rinca, with a park ranger beside you. Sebayur is for beaches and snorkelling.

Are a guide and a photographer included on the Sebayur day?

Not in a charter fare: the guide and the photographer are on request and quoted separately. On the open trip both are part of the fare, but the open trip does not call at Sebayur.

Which is easier to snorkel, Sebayur or Kanawa?

Both are graded easy with a mild current. Kanawa's reefs are shallower, between 1 and 6 metres, and make an easy first snorkel. Sebayur runs between 2 and 10 metres, so there is a little more water below you. On the three-day charter you get both, in that order.
